Perhaps I should clarify...

A couole years back we were on the bike together and when leaving the restaurant we hears hears grinding noise. I couldn't locate the source and couldn't get it to replicate the sound so we decided to head home to be safe.

On the freeway, doing 70 (under the speed limit) the rear wheel tried to lock up, went into a shimmy and damn near took us down. The wheel bearing had exploded and locked bound up in the swing arm. The brake was the only thing that kept it centered. It really was a worst case scenario.

I got us stopped safely (all things considered) and had to call for a tow. We waited and got picked up etc. Got the bike fixed and went through everything with a fine tooth comb afterwards.

But, since then she's said that had we gone down our children could have been orphaned and all that. So, she'll go for shorter rides but that shook her to her core.

I always let her know that she's always welcome and would be enjoyed on every outing, but she won't go. The breakthrough at least was with the new bike she went out with me and enjoyed it. So I got the Mustang seat for her to be more comfortable.

We'll see what happens. She's not scared of my riding, but she was faced with a situation that are the dangers of motorcycles very real.

The story...

Friend of Chuck's. Freighter Captain so obviously not a nitwit. Cute wife, nice couple. 60ish in age.

Beautiful bike with all the bells and whistles. Unfortunately it seems he didn't have tons of time to hone his riding skills.

Damn near ran off the road, came close to turning in fron of traffic a time or two. Just not in control of his ride.

She was terrified.
