This part of the country doesn’t see this sort of cold weather very often. That doesn’t change the fact that the power grid has been mismanaged and that there were precautions that were bypassed by conscious decision that could have had positive outcomes. The Governor is dead on the heels of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas and he is out for blood. Every one of those people should be looking for a new job.

Even during the hot summer months, ERCOT cries about “conserving” electricity. Dammit, I pay to run my AC at a comfortable level, have my party lights on and do laundry and if those guys can’t deliver, it’s time to get some people in there who aren’t afraid of adding infrastructure to correct these problems.

I’ll leave you with this thought which I stole from a popular meme, “if the existing grid can not handle a few days of sub-freezing temperatures, what will happen when 100 million electric cars are plugged in every night?”
