In the mechanics defence, these generators are supposed to run once a week, regardless if it needs it or not. If there was an outage, even with the first one seizing up after automatic start, the second one is backup and supposed to start up. Both would have seized regardless.
Tim, the generator that supplies back up power to the AT&T central office in Traverse City,is a Detroit Diesel. 1500kw sixteen cylinders the size of beer kegs, 2200 hp. Needless to say it was big !.

re-Morning, Woods. Just made symmetrical waffles. I better start learning how to cook. Should actually have time to eat this year at the lake and take out is 7 miles away.

Heating water on the cooktop (gas) for coffee, fireplace is on.

Fireplace! Something on my list of things I WANTED in the new house but not a deal breaker. The previous owners had removed the fireplace in this house. I guess building a wood burning stove is on my short list before next winter.
