Carol's basement shall remain dry for a while again, the leak doubled in volume since yesterday, figured that was the sign to stop procrastinating. . The temporary patch I envisioned failed miserably, so I used what I thought would be my "hope I don't need this backup" plan. That worked just fine. Not much work to it, just a little awkward to reach, but I felt exhausted when I got home. Still haven't completely shaken off whatever I have. Next summer I need to cut a pipe and splice in a permanent repair, but for now quick and easiest is all I feel like doing, not thrilled with the idea of a torch here it's at, don't know if I could get a shark bite in there. Felt nice to get out of the house, though.

Hi Stan, Greg, Russ, Mick, anyone else still hanging around. No saran wrap. Actually the first silicon wrap tape was intact, but the clamp came loose somehow I put over it to make sure it stayed over the hole, and the water worked its way between the tape and copper pipe. I thought a strip of inner tube under the clamp might be sturdier, but the water blew under that with ease. So I just put more silicon tape with 3 hose clamps and that held nicely, glad I brought the roll along. Figured if the first one held for a few months, a fresh one would hold till I could do something better. Hopefully with 3 clamps butted against each other, they won't get loose.

Need to refuel again, and then going to bed, feel like if I closed my eyes, I'd fall asleep in the chair. I'll leave you with a pic.
Hint: the bike is at the bottom of the photo.
