TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
Chuck, figure out your HP to weight ratio and how much more HP you need......then lose that much weight. It'll feel faster and you'll save money by not eating...
Don’t forget when Tracy (M) upgraded the top end of his and did nothing for the bottom end, didn’t work out to well for his bike. Don’t cheap out, put a good crank in.

I did a 107 on my 2011 TC and spun the crank shortly thereafter. Bigger bangs also produce more heat and noise. On the twin cams it's a real can of worms. A nice new M8 will give you that plateau torque curve that you really feel vs a twin cam. They run very strong right off the showroom floor.
But honestly Chuck......no matter what you do, unless you are throwing serious HP money at a motor, they all run within a bike length or two of each other. The weight is the great equalizer.
Evening, bike buyers and engine builders.
I have about 25,000 miles on my 98" kit supposedly with one of the worst cranks Harley made. Y'all know how I ride. No troubles yet. Knock on Wood.

Yes. The only difference was piston diameter. I believe the Rushmores have a somewhat improved crank, but I do not know for sure. What I can tell you is I have a friend I ride with who has two CVOs and a M8 Road King. My lowly, basically stock 103 is faster than both his 110s (ones a 13 Road Glide Custom CVO and the other is a Ultra Limited CVO) and can easily keep up with his 107 M8. That said, my 103 is a strong runner.
My thoughts are my FJ09 that cost less than your motor would bury you all day every day.
