I know a lot of folks in Whiskey Falls. Was involved in some Wounded Warrior charity program, in fact, created one here, and thru my local VFW Commander I met the last surviving Texan that was on the U.S.S. Indianapolis. His name was L.D. ***.
Google him and listen to his stories. L.D. was a successful banker and rancher in Comanche Texas, but he like his cold beer, and he like going to the bar with me. Every time he came into town for the National Iwo Jima Convention that was held in Whiskey Falls, we would have a few cold beers.
Don't know why he took a shine to me, but he did, and the stories he personally told me I will never forget. He was there and lived thru it, and shared with me first hand. Not only that, he testified FOR his Captain when our own NAVY needed a scapegoat.
He passed away a couple of years ago, and we will never again see his kind. I have pictures of us, and memories of cold beers I will always cherish.
I asked him one time, LD, why in the hell did a red neck country boy from Texas join the NAVY way back then?
His answer was CLASSIC. He said the Navy had advertised heavily, and he saw a sign in his town that said "Join the Navy, where you'll see beautiful women in every Port."
Now THAT, is one hell of a reason to join, LOL.
RIP L.D.

I recently had..
a Dr.
cut my
eyeball.
This opthamologist took over from the eye dr I had in the early 60's.
Been going to the same office since I was a very young child.
Now I got cataracts.
Had the surgery done day b'fore yesterday.
I can now see better than I have in a long time.
No ****.
I am pretty stoked.
Being able to see again is cool.
Night blindness in that eye right now but I am told it will subside. No halowes.
Being able to ride with good vision is cool. Did 30 miles today to get a decent price on whiskey on side streets. Been doin the hi-way, 4,000 miles, since gettin' head-oned. Gettin' sick of seein' dr's. Almost done I think.
Yesterday was Good Friday. That's the day Jesus was crucified. I never knew what that was till someone told me. I thought it was a catholic or jewish thing or whatever. Read your bible boys & girls. The good lord has got your back.
Something for the country music aficionados..
...( :
I've been called a redneck. By someone who don't know what a real redneck is.
I do enjoy the old rock & roll jams tho. When I get drunk & stoned they just sound right.
Poison Whiskey again..
They very slowly dropped a totally yuge stars/bars, very slowly, behind the stage, for this one. The crowd went nuts.
The encore was.. of course..
The audience went phsyco-crazy.
It was a very cool show.
Denver coliseum. Very wide stage.
10'000 capacity. Full house. You better know it..
I always loveded ZZ Top. Let's see what we can dig up from them boys..
This **** came later,..
Always liked that one..
Seen them before the beards initially the first couple times anyway.'73-'74.
First time I seen ZZ Top was on the Tres Hombres tour. I was hooked.
Tull was the most enthralling **** I ever seen.
I seen Tull do, "A Passion Play".
Very cool..
I apologise for that first Tull. I'm sorry..
I just listened to it.
I seen them earlier.
There was a Tull riot in 70 or 71 that closed Red Rocks to Rock & Roll for 5 years.
Barry Fey sued the city of denver & after 5 yrs, rock & roll was once again permitted at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
Good morning..
The first time I seen Cooper it was cool..
As for Jethro Tull, I, for the most part, enjoyed them.
The second time,
Not some much..
Have a good day..
