Clay and sand. Mostly clay. This is the cheapest way to go. I could have the yard stripped and rebuilt with topsoil, sod and a sprinkler system, but we decided this is the easiest, cheapest way to go. Besides actually being a desert with a dwindling water supply. Not that I'm that enviromentally conscious....

Around here a mark crabgrass is better than weeds... it's green, grows on anything and never dies. A friend of mine, when he was building a new house, wanted crabgrass planted. The people doing the yard work wanted to know why. He said that it's always green, never dies and chokes weeds. Perfect!!
