Once I got the 6.5 the 223 started collecting dust. Wife doesn't like the sights on the M4 so I'll be shopping for a cheap red dot to see if she likes that. When I bought my tripod I made sure it could handle a rifle. Bought a Arca Swiss to Mlok adapter so I can mount the rifle straight up to the tripod. It will make it easier to sight in and more stable for the 6.5 to shoot long range.

hey Lou, I'm changing out inner primary bearing/seal/race (again) and looking at either the S&S race or the one piece bearing setup. last time the race cracked and slid back and forth causing primary leak, this time it has walked into the mainshaft seal and trans is draining. not getting any replies at all on the thread I posted, and I see in a few searches you've got some experience with them. been talking to an instructor that teaches the HD Mechanic courses at the local college and he says the only issue he sees with the one piece bearing is the possibility of it seizing to the mainshaft making inner cover removal difficult. he thinks it might be ok running a wet primary, but has experienced the seizing issue in dealing with bikes running open primaries. you're a straight shooter, I'd appreciate any thoughts or advice you have.

What year is it Terry? The Baker one piece bearing is basically an off the shelf bearing that has been precision honed for a light press fit. On my 08 I ran the Baker one with no issues until I rebuilt the whole tranny. While I had it all apart I put an 08 shaft in it. The 08 shaft has a shoulder to prevent inner race walk.

I probably had 60k running the one piece bearing.

it's an '02. I've read about the updated shaft, not looking to go that far into it yet unless it's required to repair something further in. the HD instructor guy is also an indy that stocks parts, he has both setups in stock. I'm leaning toward the one piece. thanks Lou.

No problem. The 02 is pretty bullet proof. I'd do the one piece of it was me. Use a little anti seize to prevent future hauling when removing next time. Mark will probably give you a TOAK discount.

the indy has the Baker bearing, as well as All ***** and a Jim's one piece. thinking I'll go with the Baker, as far as I can tell it's the only American made piece. a bit more spendy, but in the scheme of things I think it's worth it.
