Quite the adventure, Al! Was that a Harley or aftermarket exhaust? And what is the underlying cause for it to break at that point? Vibration?
While at WS'18, Chuck told us about all the stuff that has been replaced due to rust, I guess he forgot one thing.
Rust can be a real pain in the posterior ... I mentioned earlier that I'd lost a strap on an old Chevy ... that tank was one of those aftermarket tanks that mounted up under the bed in front of the rear tire ... It fell off in the gas station :>(

I had a set of those saddle tanks on an old Ford High Boy. Those used really long bolts that went through the tank to hold them on.

Aftermarket, FM. Don't know the cause stress, vibration?....You can see the crack starting on the other pipe.
