Yup. That's how ours is. Have to change it every year.

I use a password vault tool (keepassX) to store them. It is free and encrypted. The problem might be remembering THAT encryption pw or to update other pw's when you change them

I use completely random letters/numbers for passwords, keep a spreadsheet list on a never networked puter and a printout. I keep a thumbdrive with most of the ones I use a lot, mixed in with other random stuff in a page full of what looks like nonsense. Ctrl-F two digits to find the password, cut and paste. I also leave a digit out I have to type in. I don't know if a keylogger could get the cut and paste with a mouse or not, but can't be worse than typing the whole password in. It's actually pretty quick once I got used to it, especially if I'm going to be using more than one passworded site. I use 12-16 digit passwords, too.

For a few non financial sites, like this one, I use a little program that assigns hot keys, and did something to complicate that so it would still be a lot of guessing if someone hacked the hot key program. So if nipples start showing up in my posts, someone figured it out.

I know there are password programs, but I bet there are people that know how to hack them.

Amazing how many passwords I have now.
