I have found that Korky brand toilet valves work best. Many years of trial and error. Sometimes the flapper and the sealing surface on the drain just need to be cleaned from time to time.

I know its still leaking a bit. I put some food colouring in the bowl, and you can see it leaked. Wiped it down, so have to try it again.
