Question for you guys that have a traeger grill. Bought myself one a few weeks ago. Going to do a couple racks of babyback ribs tomorrow. Any advice on dos and don’t s. Do ya call these things a grill or smoker?

Yes.
Don't open it unless absolutely necessary during cooking. When I have to turn things, I open it just enough to get the tool in to do the work.

Would love to get a smoker. I heard from lots of people that have them, get rid of them after a time for non use. Guess the newness wears off and it gets old. Supposedly you see them on CL all the time. Haven't checked yet.

i have threatened to put a lock on the lid on my charcoal smoker if I saw anyone gonna open it.

They do use a lot of pellets.
It's almost a cross between a smoker, oven and grill. I have had mine for almost a year and love it. Cooked chicken on it tonight. Cooked a couple Prime Rib roasts on it this past Friday. I think I cook on it at least twice a week.
Lots of recipes on Treagers website. Their is a recipe for chicken in there to die for.
Took me about a month to figure out how long to cook steaks for at what temp was best. Almost impossible to ruin a meal on it.

I have been looking at their recipes on line and got a cookbook with it. It looks like a lot things is done at a temp of 350. So was thinking it was almost like baking in a oven. Does it produce much smoke with temp that high?
