I've also never trapped a possum. But I know cougars will hiss and bite

 

It ain't my first rodeo.
I'm not scared of it. I just want to relocate it without hurting it. They eat spiders, snakes, rodents, etc. They dont get rabies either so there's minimal risk.

I will tell you what I'll never ever ever try to relocate without a cage again. Freakin Raccoons!

I had a pet Bobcat from the time he was a kitten. They play rough even when "domesticated".
I certainly wouldn't want to mess around with a panther.

Im no Marlin Perkins but I'd have to assume that any pregnant animal is slightly more aggressive.
Especially a super stupid, cross eyed animal with a mouth like this.

Attics in Florida are more like a crawl space. If it decides to attack I wouldn't have enough space to pull my Sig M400 on it.
