Going back to work will be a good thing and I think you'll be happy to do it. You might remember my talking about a friend ( Iron Worker ) who fell from a second story structure several years ago. He was paralyzed from the waist down. This last Monday he started a new job. He has been hired by a firm to analyze construction costs, policies and procedures. They were impressed with his experience in the field and wanted to give a a "hand up". He had to clear things with the Social Security Administration so in the event he had problems he wouldn't lose his status if the job doesn't work out. He's extremely excited about being back to work.

Sometimes your knowledge is enough to make having you around worthwhile. Especially the last few years when I was the shop elder, there were times when the manager gave the grunt work to the younger guys, wanted me to figure out the best way to do something and teach the younger guys to do it right.
