TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XI
We have to watch out for Lyme disease here. No lonestar ticks but they still carry Lyme disease.
Girlfriend feeds the deer in the backyard, wound up with a tick bite with the classic bullseye rash. Tested positive for Lyme, they gave her a round of antibiotics, never retested her after that............perhaps that explains a lot?
This is one case where I wish we weren't in the top 20%.
It's not as bad were we live. But if we ever go north we wear clothing sprayed with Permethrine. I forgot to do that on one dirtbike trip and was pretty much freaking out thinking I was going to get bit. Turned out I had a tick on me, but hadn't bit me yet. Thank God. I'll never make that mistake again.
I watch a couple of hunting websites here in Ohio. Anybody out spring turkey hunting is complaining how many they have been pulling off of them!
Thanks for the info Terry.

Permetherine is like a force field though. Ticks HATE the stuff and will do anything they can go get off clothing coated with it. And it's not just direct contact. The fumes, or whatever, keeps pretty much any bug away. Even mosquitoes. On one trip I was wearing coated clothing. The other guys weren't. It was after a long rain and the Mosquitoes were swarming. The other guys were getting devoured. I didn't get one bite. Stuff is amazing. Pretty toxic too. I think it gave me night vision and an extra ********.
