I've had discussions with a few of those. Generally you have nothing to worry about if the paperwerk or computer entries are done right, about all they check unless there's an in flight incident. I got asked once to check out an in flight incident with a sharp young FAA guy and an engineer; they'd figured out what went wrong but not why. I saw why, and unfortunately it was then obvious to all of us the airline was going to spend a whole lot of money fixing a fleet wide maintenance error. Probably lucky I wasn't fired...

Getting a visit from the FAA on a Wednesday shouldn't be too surprising. However, getting a visit from them on a Monday or a Friday would likely bring the world to an end.
