Haha.....Believe it or not, but when I was your age, SONNY......I didn't own any. I used the old neighbor's next door. The deal was that I could use it if I kept it in working condition. Of course, i would always do his driveway too.....You're waaaay ahead.

Ironically, my sand blower was given to me by my previous neighbor. He came over to do my driveway and a part of the auger(?) broke off. He went online looking for parts and it was going to be more expensive to get the parts than he paid for it from a pawn shop so I told him I'd take it off his hands as a project. At the time, I had a small MIG welder and was able to fix the old one and he got himself a new one.

Hey Rick......

MarCUZ, I think the vast majority of people out there are totally incapable of fixing or repairing anything and spend a lot of money replacing things. I used to tell my boys " Learn or Pay". But they're smarter than I am...they learned " Call Dad"...

My son is getting a crash course in home ownership. An electric bill and call in the middle of the night when his heat pump froze up.

Funny how home ownership becomes a shock to them. My boys will do some stuff but they know when it's over their heads. Can't tell you how many of these conversations we had :

Me: "Do this, this and then that"
Kid: " I never did that, I don't know how"
Me: " How do you know that you don't know how if you never tried to do it"
Kid: " What if I screw it up?"
Me: " Then do it over, but this time you'll have experience and should know how to do it"

They used to hate that!...

Few kids today will be able to maintain a car or home when they are adults. They just don't feel the need to learn how to turn a wrench or screwdriver.

I didn't know how to fix the heat pump but I googled it and found the solution offered by a few handy man sites. Compared notes and called him back. It worked.

It does bother me when he doesn't ask me things and I found out later had he asked I would have informed him about the choice he had. For instance this house he bought is all electric. Our electric is provided by a co-op which buys their electric from a local energy company, triples the price in the resale to the customer. Had I know that I would have told him to look elsewhere. But he was living with his MIL and would have bought anything close to what he wanted just to get the F away from her.

Rick, sometimes you wonder if it's just pride or that they don't want to be calling you for everything.....that's what we're here for.

So far only about 1.5" of sand has fallen. Not even worth firing up the machine yet
