TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part X
Afternoon check in.....snow all cleaned up. practiced with Monster Quad.....as I suspected, the thing is too big to maneuver plus I'm rusty with one. Would have been quicker with the small snow blower. May as well start looking for a small cheap Quad....buahahahahhah
Al, assume the ATV maneuverability was in relation to the size of your yard. Maybe you can adapt a zero turn mower to do the job? Between you and Ken's crazy mad fabricating skills you can make it work.

Got busy and forgot breakfast, quick 'puter check before brunch. Occasional little white things floating down, probably get a salt truck before dark. Last few years, they seldom pass an opportunity. The "pre-salt" is what I hate, windshield pitting dry salt on dry roads, and then half the time it doesn't snew...

Al, I bought a cheap 'lectric blower a few years ago, thought that would handle most of what we've been getting for a few years and be easier to use. Motor smoked half the way down the driveway. Cheap Chinese chit... The quarter century+ old Toro still usually starts on the first pull, guess I'll just stick with that.
Yep, but I thought it was going to be too big for what I need, but how can you say "NO" to " I got you a new Honda with a plow to use this winter, just store it there"...back in late 90's early 2000, I had a Honda 450 with 4' plow that I could maneuver around like a go kart. I'll have to start looking for one just like that, could probably get a decent one for around $2K....The big snow throwers cost almost that much. Plus I can go trail riding in the winter with it. Oh...and maintenance equipment for the rental property is tax deductible..
I was just in Ann Arbor on business. We drove in through a snow storm Monday night and back through some insane lake effect snow Tuesday night. I've driven through some pretty crazy stuff - blizzards in New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa.......nothing was like this. I couldn't see ten feet ahead of the truck. I told Cheryl - "I seriously can't see anything.". I knew there was a semi behind us and who knows what ahead. I couldn't pull over for fear of getting hit, but I was worried we were going to hit someone who spun out. I had to hug the rumble strips just to hear where I was at. Thankfully it subsided after about 5 minutes.
What were your snow totals?

That stretch of I-94 in the west end of the state can be treacherous when it comes to snow .. there have been many multiple car/truck accidents there ... one a few weeks ago was bad and a couple of years ago there was a 90 vehicle accident ... I've got a friend who works for the highway dept in the winter ( he owns his own excavating business ) and he tells some scary stories of the accidents along that stretch
8" HUH?....so it was really like 4?????
