That is a good deal, Rich. Have you considered the floor mounted bike system that allows you to ride your bike into the secure down?

I've seen those but the floor mount is one of those things that's kinda gotta stay wherever you put it. I use these, http://www.pingelonline.com/wheel-ch...hock-6-1-2.asp

We also haul our ATV's and camping stuff for hunting. We can fit a full size 4 door hunting rig and a 450 quad inside no problem. That's why I didn't get the floor mounted thing. We just will use it for whatever comes up. So far it's been broken or crashed bikes.

It's a 7x14'.. Which you would think is pretty big but we put two road glides side by side and were talking like 1/2" clearance between the fairings and we have to pull in the mirrors. I could load 4 RG's inside and it can easily handle the weight. It's rated at 7500lbs has a 2-5/16 hitch.

I installed lighting, battery operated that recharges when it's plugged into the 7 pin tail.

More than anything, this is a backup incase my wife's neck doesn't hold up during the 3k mile ride to Sturgis. I'm taking an extra week off work just in case we can't put enough miles down in a day.

Knowing her, that softail will never see the trailer, come hell or high water she's gonna make it. I rented a house in Sturgis through Homeaway during the rally. Cost me $685 a night but it's a 4 bedroom 3 bath house fully furnished, has everything you need except food. So the trailer will haul all the food and extra "lady stuff" the 4 women may need to bring.

This will be my first trip back to Sturgis since 1995. Plan to ride Yellowstone for two days prior to making it to Sturgis. A friend's wife is driving the truck and trailer, she has no interest in riding that far so it works out well.

She had C5 &6 fused in Oct last year and they inserted a cadaver bone. Depending on the road, she can put down about 350 a day but that always includes winding roads as we live in the foothills. So setting the cruise control to 90mph and just staying like that for a few gas stops will put us much farther than she thinks.

next year they want another surgery for three remaining bulging discs but she's waiting until after our trip to Sturgis. Gotta hand it to her, she could easily put the bike in the trailer but she won't. She has a sticker on her helmet that say's 'Nice Trailer *****" so I think she'd rather suck it up than go against her belief that the trip is about the ride, not about the rally.

My wife's only 44. So she's got a lot of miles left. But yea, getting old sucks.
