I never did organized sports but growing up as a Navy Brat we lived in military housing where there were a lot of kids so it was pick up games of baseball, football or what ever. Sometimes you had kids as young as 5 and parents playing tackle football....lots of discretion on the physicality was exercised. Man, I miss those days
My high school sports were:
Running (after girls)
Tackling (them)
Wrestling (them and those feisty beer cans)
Defense (Multiple excuses when questioned by law enforcement)
Above with lots of ..... Drama

Poor white trash latch key kid. We played run from the cops. Also worked on my petty theft skills. Last time I got busted was because I stuffed a can of sardines down my pants. No kid has a rectangular bulge at that age...
