Ron, I saw one of those self-order kiosks at our local McD's lst weekend. It had not donned on me that it may be a pilot for not having the folks at the counter take your order.
I recall the Arby's on Araphoe Rd in Denver having those kisoks back in 1990 or so. Of course they still needed a human to come collect your money because almost no one used credit or debit cards for direct purchases back then.

AI and robots are so advanced that technology is held back due to ethical/moral principles, unknown parameters, and bureaucracy.
