The heat's back on. Power company contracted with a bunch of tree trimmers to clear the lines, power guy told me that's keeping them busy. Trimmer touched a line with something next door, blew a line fuse the power folks just installed last week. Something like a big ground fault, passed the careless tree trimmer test. Big fuse, bet those aren't cheap. So now if a limb does manage to touch a line in a storm, might be dark for a bit. Supposed to protect homes from surges and lightning, probably a good thing. No hot lines down when a car hits a pole, that would be a very good thing.

They're what I use. When I'm done with my cars, they get those, too. Pretty sure they just go to salvage, but they can get $200-300 for that.

Stay hot as the day you picked 'em.
Hard freeze last week, picked all of them. Have pulled plants & put them in buckets of water before, but just didn't feel like I had enough worth the effort this year, most got ripe soon enough. Didn't get a good crop of sweet peppers (usually they do best), but a great crop of mild to hot Santa Fe peppers, some kind of smaller really hots, and just a few anchos that never got ripe. About 6" deep in this bin. Cut them in half, clean them out, freeze in zip locks. Dozens of quart zip lock bags of them in my two freezers. Use a lot of Santa Fe's in chili and soup, diced up in omelets, lot of foods. The green ones will go in chili, somewhat bitter flavor gets lost in the chili. Light green, orange and red are ripening stages for Santa Fe's, red's best but even light green isn't bad, just not as hot.

Had maybe a couple dozen little ones last nite, all with big folks hovering nearby. I got little bags of chips and cheetos, plenty left for me and the grandkids. The baby girl loves anything cheesy. She gets mad when I stop giving her more cheese puffs, so I don't get those anymore. Little girls are sure loveable before they realize they're girls and we're guys...
