Fairly simple surgery, but it'll slow him down for a little while. They usually want to do it soon; I went pretty much straight from diagnosis to op room. Had folks tell me it was no big deal, but for my Dad and I it was complicated. His ruptured (tough guy, endured it too long), mine was on the left side. Might have saved my life getting it at 13, intestine was folded over, had had some constipation problems, would've eventually got infected and that can kill you in a few days (brother lost his previous wife to bowel infection).

Laying in bed in my shorts, military hospital, Doc walking by noticed my old scar, asked if that was from whatever name hospital a few years previously. He was one of the docs at my surgery. Just saw a short video of that hospital on PBS last night, showing an operating room. Doc did the cutting on me in a hallway, op rooms had a line of guys that needed them a lot worse than me.
Surgery took about 2 hours. Appendix had ruptured. So took some time to get it cleaned up in there and put a drain tube in. Will be in for a couple days. Expect full recovery.

I've heard that's really painful before the surgery. Hope that doesn't slow recovery a lot.
He wasn't feeling well Wednesday morning when he got off wurk. He said he was just coming down the the flu that has been going around here. Doctor said it had been ruptured for awhile. He should be ok if they keep infection under control.
