Never bothered anything else, but this one sure liked my pole beans - the leaves, not the beans. When I ran after her she tried jumping that water and her hooves sank in the mud and she just went face first in the middle of it. Surprised me, was deep enough she had to swim out. So far this the biggest critters have been ducks. Had a lotta rain...

Seriously though.. He has a pretty small garden and what he did was to drive some tall stakes around the garden and tie yellow caution ribbon around it and then hung those disposable aluminum pie pans so they moved in any breeze. He said it worked for him

I have seen people fill plastic bags with water and hang them on the perimeter of an area to discourage critters. Something to do with light refraction.

That might well work too. Deer as prey animals are very attuned to their surroundings, but are also creatures of habit. Something new or unusual makes them nervous.
