Evidently transmissions for big block 4wd fords are pretty rare. Guy wanted a $900 core charge added to get it for me. I found a place a couple counties over that will remove and rebuild the one I have for about $1300. A little more if I want to beef it up some. I think I'm gonna go that route. Probably cost me $100 to get it hauled over there.

It's a better gig when you can talk face to face with the builder ... Give him an idea of what type of service you be using it for and he'll make recommendations. My oldest son has an "in" at the GM Proving Grounds who is a GM trans guru. Too bad you don't have a GM :>(
I do have a Chevy truck as well. Not having any problems with it other than I need to find the leak in the AC system.
I bought the ford at an estate sale for $8k. It had 19K on the clock when I got it. I must admit it has been worked pretty hard through the years. It was my farm truck and what I used to haul cattle and equipment to and fro. Been a good truck up until now
With that 460 she's a beast. You hook to something and it moves!

The old feller that had owned it, ran off the road into a ditch. Did some minor body damage and broke a tie-rod. Other than that it was cherry.
I was pleased with the deal
