That's the reason most disputes arise from. People don't read the HOA agreement.
Agreed, although I had a buddy who lived in one and at first most chores were done by home owners/volunteers, then it got so everything was hired out and fee's went skyward.
Not for everybody, but they are an alternative to some.

When you purchase a home in an HOA, (Home Owners Association) it is a legal community inside specific physical borders where you agree, or sign off, in advance of a home purchase to abide by all "standards" set by the HOA and their elected representatives. Ignorance is not a defense. I suspect on a national level most homes are not in an HOA.
