Greg...In a conversation I had with Graham while in the UK he pointed out that the fork was uniquiely connected to the triple tree on the 2003 and earlier WG'S. I may send my forks to the UK for cartridge upgrade and am not sure if it will be possible given how they are configured with the triple tree. I can provied more info if you like.

What Graham stated was that the fork cap at the top is not a flat top. He said that there is a "top hat" or nipple like cap that connects to the top of the fork tube that has a narrow neck which fits into the triple tree. This the fork cap screws into this nipple and when screwed tight anchors the fork tube in the triple tree.
He further stated that you cannot remove the forktube without removing the cap as there is no compression screw to loosen the tube from the triple tree. I have looked in my service manual and it is somewhat confusing.
If I have the cartridges made it the UK I need to send them my forkes and they will return them with the cartridged installed and set up with pre load and valved for my weight and bike. If I need to remove the cap that may undo the setting on the rebound damping adjustment. the cartridge does have an external rebound adjustment.

I want to get clarification as I will need to discuss this with Maxton Suspension in the UK to be sure thaey can work around this configuration. They do primarily British street and race bikes and have done a few harleys. They custom make cartridges and have a great reputaion in the UK racing circuit with regard to their suspension systems. I visited their place of business while in the UK and was impressed. With my planned upgrade the more I look at this the more complicated it becomes.
