I once had a few beers with L.D. ***, may he RIP. One of the finest men I have ever met. He was a survivor of the USS Indianapolis. His YouTube videos are the best.
I asked L.D. why he joined the Navy. He said the Navy put up a sign outside of Comanche Texas that said in short, "Join the Navy, there's women in every Port."
That's why he joined, and that cracked me up...
I had a hat that I wore in high school that had that saying on it. I got my nickname Stash because of it.
