Harley's are a lot easier than car engines.

When I put the rocker support assembly in you had to wiggle and turn it to get it under the frame, then I didn't pay super close attention to the push rods to make sure they were properly seated. It will be fine I'm sure or I could pop the tubes open at check to make sure they turn freely.

If you don't jump in it with both feet WITH a good attitude/knowledge, and without pride getting in your way, you will not learn anything.

Yea it's not exactly cutting edge technology but the first time it's intimidating.

If they roll smoothly with your fingers them they are in the cups. No side to side motion.

All I ask of the students I hire is to have comon sense and the willingness to ask questions. I've let students go for not having one or both of those attributes.

If you didn't meet any undue resistance when tightening down the rocker stands you're probably good to go. But it does only take a few minutes to check the pushrods.

That makes sense.
I guess I have a bad taste in my mouth on motors. New jugs and pistons on a sled. Get it fired, worked flawlessly, Awesome! Go down the road, try it out and less than 2 miles cratered. Turns out the crank bearings were gone. No one said trial and error was cheap...Especially when you were trying to save money.
