In for a late lunch and watching Saving Private Ryan, hard movie to watch.

Hitting the beach scene was the first (only?) movie I've seen where I could close my eyes and it sounded pretty real. Wish Dad could have seen it, always said WWII movies weren't very realistic. He missed it by less than a year. I liked the "tink" sound instead of bang after a few shots, it really is like that without ear protection. The mechanics of the movie were great, the subject, bit of a fantasy, but I'd still call it one of Hollywood's best war movies.
I watched a Russian movie on Netflix streaming, "August. Eighth", that sure looked like they were using live ammo in some shots. If anyone tries that, just skip the fantasy cgi opening scene, that was just weird and unnecessary; otherwise, I really liked that one, too. The main actor's a sweetie, pretty girls never hurt.
