Kind of what I've seen in here, Lou. Thanks for the confirmation.

Since I've never really looked at one, is this something easily seen?
I mean will I be able to point at it?

Once you get the chrome cover off. Built up condensation in the oil line that hasn't had a chance to burn off gets stuck in the line and pops the tank. Never seen it first hand here. More common in colder climates.

That couldn't be it, Greg....what, with our tropical climate and all.

No sweat, I'll figure it out.
I've seen in here about the tank splitting, and that was my first inclination. Something like the return line weld cracking makes more sense in this situation. The bike has sat outside, covered, through the winter with very little activity. I don't know for sure what he has going in the garage that he can't get his bike in there, but I have my suspicions.
