Thanks for asking..let's see... 2 weeks ago she fell on the steps and neglected to tell anybody for two days. Trip to ER, 2 fractured vertebrae in her neck, moved to rehab hospital for a week or so. Then moved to a rehab nursing home...bitchin', moanin', and complaining all the time. She wants to go home which is completely understandable. She has fought us for a few years on getting a stair lift and having an "aide" come to the house for several hours a few times a day. My brother and I have told her that she no longer has a say in the matter....go along with us if she wants to go home or stay in the nursing home forever. We will do everything and anything in our power to get her home, but a little cooperation on her part would be nice...... "just another day in Paradise"..

A challenge and sure is damn tough getting old. Sounds like you and our brother have it under control and can exert some influence for her own good. Prayers....
I'll have my hands full soon with a stubborn, proud 83 yr old father that's starting to decline some. The day will come..... and he will fight us and likely swear at us all the way......... but sometimes one just runs out of options.

 

Went through the same stuff with my Mom, Al. Wasn't any fun for me either.

 

my mom doesn't even get out of bed enough, lucky enough no bed sores. plus the house is a rancher, no steps to climb.

 

Thanks for the thoughts , guys. Funny to think that we may be on the other end of this is the future. My kids have my "old age" figured out already. Said that they'll just put a bed and couch and table in the garage, already have heat,AC, phone and Internet, carpet on the floor and a JobJohnny ouside the door. Told them that I'm good with that!
