Mornin Mick. I had an early night. The wedding was an afternoon event so we got home at a decent hour. Got some Honey Do's and personal projects to do around the house today.
I will be continuing with my cabling work in the basement since construction starts this week. I bought a patch panel to make the cabling neater. The panel will be mounted into the drywall so I don't have a bunch of cables coming out of a hole in the wall. I also bought the crimpers and punch down tools to do the work. I had been borrowing my friends tools for this stuff but wanted my own for ***** and grins
It is just a bunch if jacks for ethernet cables. Not a switch or router or anything fancy. Think of it as a row of wall jacks. It is more of an asthetic accessory than anything else.
I will wire the backside (insert joke here) of the patch panel then make cables that go from that to the switch in the basement. That switch is what is connected to the Comcast router upstairs (uplinked) and shares that connection with whatever I plug into it. It is faster than wifi and for streaming movies I prefer a faster, wired connection. I have been having fun with this part of the project and refining my cabling skillz
