You will lose a little of that bottom end. Lou is a better engine guy than me though.

Tracy,
Finish modding that engine the way you are describing and you'll have to call "Ol' Blue" the "Blue Beast" or "Blue Bastard"....but not "Blue *****".

Greg, you think so even with the hp increase? You think I would better off if I had one that came in earlier?

Stan, it should really wake the old girl up!

Guess I broke the TOAK with that one. Should have said it was Russ doing his rehab.

Let me ask you this: How often are you wringing it out to 5000/5500 RPM?
Just my opinion, but something that comes on at 2000 or so and is all done at 5000 should put the meat of the torque band right around 2800/3000 where most of us do most of our riding. When you're cruising at 70/75 MPH in 6th gear at around 2900 RPM, just roll on the throttle. This will also keep you some low end to get off the line.

There is some good logic here Tracy ... But remember "Downstairs Grunt" can/could mean hard starting/hot starting ... Compression releases are highly recommended and well worth the extra ( minimal ) expense.

Good choice Tracy! Ken and I are running that cam. Can't speak to where the cam comes in because i have power everywhere. Mostly due to 11.5 compression and displacement.

Are you getting the easy starts or manual comp releases or ACR's?
