Mornin Russ and Larry!

Russ, my buddy gave me his roll of cat 6 for my basement project. Is it possible for the heat and freeze cycles here in Colorado to make cat 6 cable brittle? Maybe if it was stored in a shed for a few years? I had a helluva time with it breaking just trying to untwist/twist/terminate. I finally said **** it and went and bought a spool of cat 5e. Everything worked fine after that.

Using old wires sucks MarkyDos as you found out. My advice would have been to use the RJ-45 connectors with the alignment blocks.

Russ, I was using the RJ's with the sleds. The problem occured when I had to bend the pairs to cut away the middle divider then when I bent them back they broke. It was as if they only had that 1 bend in them and that was it.

Morning woods, good weekend of football, Lions won and the Wolverines moved up in the poles and didn't even play.

That is indicative of environmentally compromised wire jackets. That's some low dollar stuff mark.

Should have kept them hermetically sealed in a mayonnaise jar!
