It would, if it weren't for the safeties. You have steam at 1003f, 3600psi and 9.9 million pounds an hour. When the unit trips, the admission valves to the turbine slam shut and the steam lifts the safeties to prevent the boiler from "exploding" If you're around it when they lift, you might need a change of pants

I expose my ignorance some more.
So this is a power plant that uses a giant "fireball" fed by coal dust, correct?
These in turn boil the water from which the steam spins the turbines that generate the electricity.

You got the gist of it... seems crazy the amount of equipment they use just to make steam. Until you do the training and figure out what all the equipment does(supposed to do)

It's cool.... not a lot of people show any interest in how power's made. Just that it is. Even less ever get to see how it's made. My daughter calls this place, the big nasty. Good TVA Cumberland City and you'll find me

Didn't know there was an old TVA, other than they've changed how the corporate board is made up. Plant's been here since sometime in the early 70s... She's old, but still kickin
