I used to collect Boy Scout memorabilia and bought a lot off eBay. Did a lot of sniping, but never used a program to do it.
I would just wait and watch the items I was interested in and never place a bid until the last few seconds.

With a snipe program you set the parameters : item number, highest amount you'll go and time to place the bid. Everyting else is automatic. I might set the time for 1 or 2 secs. before the end of auction. As long as the last bid hasn't exceeded your maximum amount, you generally win. It's even beaten e bay's auto bids. Company charges 1% of final bid, you put money into an account with them to pay their charges. On the mufflers, the fee was $1.39

Interesting!
I haven't bought anything off eBay in a while, but if I do I'll check it out. Thanks for the heads up!
