We got the potential to bring in new werk for our team. They want us to size a quote for a 3 PetaByte (1 PB = 1000 TB) database. WTF!? We wouldn't even be able to house that many drives without totally changing how our team operates and we would need another person or 2, maybe even 3. It could be a great opportunity for us but could be a major pain to manage

 

Hmmm. Would this put you in a position to be in charge of this?

 

Officially, no. But I am in charge of a majority of the hardware and licensing aspects of our environment now. I know more than the guy with the Masters degree about our hardware so I would be the go to guy on that for this new project as well. I do not want any official leadership position. Been there, done that...don't want it again

 

You'll have to explain this to me in more detail on Saturday. I get that your group is in for a big expansion and possibly getting too big though.
And change is scary.
