TOAK The thread of all knowledge VII
Wife had to have a C section with all three of our boys.
When we went in to have our first they tried to have her give birth. They gave her an epidural.
At the same time there was a couple there that had decided they wanted a natural birth without meds. Now I know what it probably sounded like when Torquemada was working on people during the Spanish Inquisitions!
After a point they can't give the meds even if they want them. Man that woman had some good lungs!

When Julia had her first he was breech and they didn't know until he was half way out. Had to shove him back in and then do a C section!

When Julia came out of surgery the first night the epidural was still in effect. Piece of cake she thought. Going home on Saturday she thought. WRONG!!!!!!!!!
Beth had C sections with both kids. The 2nd one was easier on her but the first....well, Benjamin just didn't want to come out. He was laying kinda sideways with his shoulder on her cervix and they couldn't get him to move. Sounds like waking him up on a school day.
Glad I don't have kids. Putting up with Julia's two is enough for me and they are SUPPOSED to be adults!
Not sure what their long term plan is for her pain management but if they reduce or eliminate the meds it will be tough. The withdrawls after 6 years of escalating dosage were bad but not unbearable. The body aches, which seemed to manifest themselves in my joints were prolly the worst of it. With knee problems I can see that being a challenge. I was to the point where a 10mg percocet on an empty stomach would take a SLIGHT edge off the pain and there was no buzz at all. I had no qualms about popping a pill and driving my kids to school...that's how used to the opioids I had become. Sad and hopefully a thing of my past.
She gets no buzz off of the opioids either. I just wish that they wood do a little more for her. She actually gets a little more relief from Percocets and Tylenol 3s than the Hydromorphone!
