The black eyed pea story is thus:
During the war of Northern aggression, Union troops pillaged the land, leaving behind only black-eyed peas and greens as animal fodder. Rich in nutrients, these were the humble foods that enabled Southerners to survive. Details of stories differ, but each celebrates a communion of family and friends bound by grateful hearts and renewed hope for good things yet to come. We also eat cornbread to signify gold and collard greens for folding money.
Having actually tasted said items and having not been ravaged by northern troops, least lately, I'll pass on everything but the cornbread, thank you.

I do think the jars ought to get a 79 cent candle in each of them, then put on ebay as faux antique candle holders for $21.98 or best offer.

I am being roped in to helping MIL bring stuff down from the cabin tomorrow. I'd like to take a stand and not do it, but with me being less than 29 hours away from "quarterly" benefits, I'd hate to scuttle any chances

Black eyed peas are GOOD! Especially when you add chunks of ham to the mix.

You're a marketing genius on the jelly-juice cups and now candleholders.
