It's a reproduction. Can't really be a "Navy" in .44 cal as Navy arms were .36 cal and Army were .44 cal. Just something else to screw with.
I think there were some original .36 Navy Colts that were converted to .38 when the cartridge became available. (Hickock's favorite pistol. He carried a brace of them.)
The .44 saw a lot of conversion too. The successor to the Dragoon.
Cabelas has the 1851 "Navy" .44 on sale for 199.00. It would go great with your new lined pants.
