Modem and receiving antenna make a big difference. I started out with a little usb stick receiver thing, wasn't good for 30'. Got a TP-Link USB thing with a rotatable antenna, picks up neighbors' signals several houses away. The less concrete and metal between send and receive the better, too. Something like a metal filing cabinet can degrade the signal.

Thanks, I imagine having to go thru three walls in the house, then thru the shop wall isn't doing reception any good.

Something like this maybe??

We have passed that point Tim and are now in the hallway sex stage.

That's where you pass each other in the hallway and say "F*** you!"
Tracy, you still talk to one another???

I haven't seen that style before, mine's a single antenna that plugs directly into a usb port. I recently moved the 'puter to another wall, and it's fine plugged in that way, but on the other wall, the 'puter itself blocked the signal and I had to hang it above with a usb extension cable. This dual antenna on a cord sounds like it would be easier to get the best signal location.

Has mostly decent reviews on Newegg and Amazon. Don't know why Newegg has it listed as low as $25 but only have the option of getting it for 50, makes it much cheaper on Amazon.

How old is your wireless router? I upgraded mine to the newer protocol last year and it made a big difference, streams Netflix 1080 hd and still fast on the puter at the same time.
