Dammit, Greg, are you talking about splitting the inbound coax? That won't work. A 2nd router would be considered a separate account. He'd have to split it from the first router to another router/switch/access point.

If he can split the inbound line then the signal to the garage will be stronger, I just though that providers would view that as a new account since it would require a 2nd modem from them.
I split mine form the Comcast modem down to the basement and into a switch to share to multiple ports/devices.
