I had a friend in Florida whose Mom was OCD about wasting wrapping paper. If she was home when anyone was wrapping a gift, she'd take it from them and wrap it herself. She would make sure the least amount of paper needed was used. The day after Christmas she and a lady friend would go to the stores to stock up on wrapping paper when it was on sale.
