TOAK The thread of all knowledge VII
Re-Mornin Woods from the Fortress of Solitude! 2 servers are not happy this morning. Could be one of those days.
Stan, perdect example of corporate mentality: Several years ago, my son in his mid 30's and a natural for sales ( funny, well liked and smart) w*rked for a major transportation industry refrigeration company. He goes to a East coast division annual sales meeting where he wins award and money for highest sales, highest percentage increase blah blah. Three days later they fired him and hired some kid that they could pay half of what my son was making.
My son spent the next few days seeing his accounts or calling them and telling them what happened. Across the board, the response was " Jason, we buy XYZ because it's you! We'll buy repair parts for what we have from them, but nothing else."
Six months later, they had virtually 0 business in the area......but they did save money with the new sales guy.....

Al, When the internet came alive, companies saw that as an opportunity to cut field staff and I watched it happen. My mantra has always been the same.......the internet even in it's ultimate form....will never replace the human factor. Some companies learned a hard, costly lesson.
At the end of the day ..... people buy from people they like ...... not the "end-all" but it goes a long way. Too many CFO's running companies today. Our new President is the former CFO. All they know how to do is cut cost. Period.

One server had a bad drive last week, t has been replaced but still has the error light on. The other server had a bad power supply, which I was able to scavenge from a donor server that is no longer in use. So the 2nd one seems to be OK
Al
I always commend those that wish to be organ donors when they "expire"
As I grabbed the power supply from the old server I held it up and said "Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him"
