Sounds like you had a don't know moron.
He gets half a boot maybe?
Public hunting land here is down right dangerous, private land only slightly less.
One of the reasons I quit hunting deer here.

I like my DPMS LR .308 Tracy. It's a fun rifle to shoot. It is outfitted with a 4 pound Timney trigger and a JP Rifles adjustable gas block and Leupold 4-12 scope.
There are morons who just don't care, and there are morons who just don't know. imho

You're exactly right Al. The last 15 years I deer hunting regularly I used a bow and left the rifle in the safe.
Some of these guys never get in the woods until deer season and it would seem that they are so desperate to get a shot at one that they will do almost anything..

Since the in-line muzzle loaders Greg, it's almost as bad as modern gun here
True. We have a limited number of licenses for ML season, but at least 1/2 of them go to out-of-staters. The in-line craze really opened up the sport to people that otherwise wouldn't bother.
At the current time, the only thing you have to draw for here are the elk in eastern KY. I expect black bear to be added before too long as there are getting to be quite a few in the state.
Other than that it's wide open for any legal weapon. In KY you can use any center fire cartridge for deer, but at least .30-06 for elk
