If you guys don't have a living will or trust set up do it now. That's one big lesson I've learned from this. I was able to get his truck transferred to me at the last minute but he has between 1 and 1.5 million sitting in retirement accounts and life insurance that may go to the ex because he didn't plan for anything.

Dave, seek legal counsel immediately. They are not emotionally involved and will give it to ya straight. I believe, in CA, without a will the assets are automatically deigned to go to both any surviving spouse as well as children.

Trying to get a lawyer this week. I'm on somewhat good terms with the ex but she is Bi-Polar so I never can tell who I'll be talking to.

Afternoon Woods! Breakfast burritos tonight then a friend stopping in to crash for the night on his way through down to Pueblo. Sure, it's only 2 hours form here but who wants to pull into Pueblo after dark?
