Hi Tracy,
The kids have to pay their own way. Sometimes a mom or a dad will come along because adults are allowed. It is really independent of the school district, but the travel is usually much more affordable compared to just taking off on your own. Group rates......

Just me and Pepe the Wonder Dog alone for the next 11 days.
Allow me to translate: "Kegger at Stan's!"

I understand. I mean that the general populous here just wouldn't have the kind of cash to pull it off. There are a few families that are fairly well off, but most not so much. I'd go so far as to say that perhaps 70% of the kids at our high school are living at or close to poverty level.

I see, and yes, there are quite a few well-to-do farmers in this part of the Midwest.........
Unfortunately the small farms like I grew up on, went by the wayside years ago. I know, you can't turn back the clock.

The life of subsistence farming is fading pretty quick isn't it? There are a LOT of small (less than 100 head) cattle farmers in eastern KY. Large areas of soil and suitable grazing/cropland is at a premium . Most of the farms are small and passed down through families.

Oh, and please don't misunderstand, I'm not knocking on folks that can afford to do the trip thing. I think it's great and a wonderful opportunity to broaden their horizons!

The grain and legume industry is freakin' huge and guys can make good money if they have the land and equipment.

There was a fellow came through here about 3 years ago and paid good money to lease every piece of river bottom he could get his hands on for 5 years. He's been planning corn.

I am going to throw some stuff on a list for Father's Day, Dan. The big thing I want, and am getting, is a long ride the day before Father's Day. I am planning on going down to Pueblo to visit my cousin, who I've not seen in a few years. Should be a good 300+ mile day
