I adjusted my steering head this afternoon. I sure hope I did it right. Looked around in here and over at HTT for info. The book is about useless for it.

 

How long is it Lou? I'm not too into skulls, but I could be talked into that piece.

 

All info I got over complicates things. You just want it tight enough to hold if you turn it 3*-5* off center. It should fall after that. Its just enough pre load for the bearing. Any looser and it can hammer the bearings.

 

I'll measure it. Came off of a 2003 heritage.

 

So, I turned the adjuster clockwise til it started dragging, then tapped the adjuster back til it fell free. It didn't take but a small tap back for it to fall free.

 

9 7/16 shoulder to shoulder.

10 3/4 end to end.

Heavy piece. Well made. Not a cheap chromed POS.

 

should be barley able to move the bars then they fall.
