Afternoon and early evening woods !! At one time there was a goodblack market for r22 freon gas ! People who had older collector cars and classics where paying high dollar for the stuff. Ac mechanics had to pump the stuff off and certify the unit was free of 22 before it could be disposed of and or repaired with the newer stuff ! Don't ask me how I know !

Absolutely. As a matter of fact, if your A/C is that old it is sucking energy at probably twice the rate of a newer one. Those old ones use reciprocating compressors that have rings and pistons similar to an internal combustion engine and well you know what happens after you get a few hundred thousand mile on an engine. It may still run, but it sure doesn't have the juice it used to and has lost a lot of efficiency in addition to not having a lot to start with. If it's that old it was probably an 8 SEER to start with.
Invest in a new high efficiency unit and watch your electric bill go down significantly in addition to have upwards of a 10 year warranty on the sealed system.
Edit: Your power company may even give you a rebate!

Labor Day Weekend MO River Run.
I'm thinking the route below will be Day 1 and Day 2 of my Labor Day Missouri River Run. Staying at Logan IA (2 nights), and returning to MN on Day 3, running the Nebraska side of the River north toward home.
Something different. Many of the areas represented below are quite scenic.........for the Midwest anyway!
